Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are readers, writers, explorers, soccer players, artists, activists, and so much more. They are committed to their education and their school community. The neighborhood where my school is located is a vibrant, largely immigrant community. Many of my students are English Language Learners who are working hard to acquire English as their second or sometimes third or fourth language!
My students are creative, lively, and curious kids.
They come to school eager to learn and engage with their classmates, teachers, school community, and beyond.
My Project
Our third grade students are on range of reading levels, and we need more guided reading books to support them in their reading growth. We need to keep them reading at a high volume, but sometimes we don't have enough copies of books to use with our guided reading groups.
Having new sets of guided reading books will help us keep them engaged and moving in the right direction with their reading.
We will be able to teach small groups in which students will read and discuss what they are reading together.
Our students will be so excited to have these new books in their hands as they continue learning and growing as readers!
