Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
English Language Learners at the WLS will love these books for guided reading. During guided reading time, students work in small groups. Each small group reads books on a level that is in their reading-comfort zone (called the zone of proximal development.) When students have high-interest books available in their zone, they are more likely to enjoy reading and therefore are likely to read more. Having books on student-comfort levels also allows them to analyze books and build their skills in character analysis, problem and solution, story and structure, and more independently. Students can then build skills and confidence at the same time!
