My students need math manipulatives like Cuisenaire rods, dice and spinners as well as storage materials to participate effectively and orderly in our daily Guided Math rotation.
Math is one of the best parts of 1st grade!! 1st grade math provides so much hands-on learning and exploration for students. Guided Math allows students to participate in centers that are differentiated to meet their individual needs.
My students are new to me, actually I haven't met them all yet!
I am anticipating an awesome year filled with lots of fun learning, especially in MATH! We are a rural school located in a beautiful town along the Lake Michigan lakeshore. About 55% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
My Project
The supplies, I am requesting, are plastic containers that will be used to help organize the materials needed to create rotating centers for our daily Guided Math instruction. These containers will be labeled and filled with the necessary tools for easy student independent use.
Some of the items requested will be used for storage (plastic, durable and reusable Sterilite containers) and other materials will be math tools (dice, fact family boards, dry erase pockets, plastic 100 Boards with tiles) used for the actual centers. The centers will be differentiated to help meet student's individual need.
The donations to this project will help off set the personal costs incurred in implementing, organizing and getting Guided Math up and running in my classroom.
Guided Math will provide the students with continued hands-on learning throughout the school year.
