My Project

Hello. I am a School Nurse at two elementary schools. The hygiene kits that I am requesting are for my 5th grade students who are starting to develop and mature, both in their minds and bodies. We have annual Human Growth and Development classes for both boys and girls and let’s be honest, their bodies begin to grow and (sometimes) become “ripe” towards the end of the school year. Both of my schools have a wide range of socioeconomic status households where some students have personal hygiene products at home and others do not. Those without sometimes tend to be more introverted as they may be embarrassed because they may not be as “fresh” as others. This makes me sad. I know in my heart that when I give the 5th graders these kits, it will feel like Christmas to them. I wish for all 5th graders to feel confident in their minds and bodies as they move on to middle school and start to become more independent at school and at home.

Every student needs to feel comfortable in their own skin to thrive and be the best they can be without worry or embarrassment.
