This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will provide students with hands-on materials to explore two crucial environmental topics: ocean conservation and gardening. Through interactive lessons, real-world problem-solving, and sustainable practices, students will learn how protecting our oceans and nurturing the earth go hand in hand.

By connecting the dots between what we grow on land and how it affects our oceans—like how fertilizer runoff impacts coral reefs or how plastic waste can travel from a playground to the Pacific—I’ll empower students to think critically, act locally, and care globally.

The designated section for learning about these topics will require the 65" Half-Moon Activity Table Set (Flash Furniture), chairs, and books on ocean conservation and gardening.

We’ll build a school garden where students can plant, observe, and learn about eco-friendly practices. At the same time, they’ll study ocean ecosystems, marine life, and the threats these habitats face. Tools, books, soil, seeds, models, and simple conservation kits will help bring these lessons to life.

This project nurtures active citizenship, environmental stewardship, and scientific thinking. Students will:

Understand how human actions affect both land and sea.

Learn to grow food sustainably and minimize waste.

Gain empathy for creatures they may never meet but still impact.

Discover their power to create change—in their homes, communities, and beyond.

When children learn to care for a garden, they learn patience, responsibility, and the value of nurturing life. When they learn about ocean conservation, they learn about interconnectedness, global responsibility, and the need to speak up for what they love.
