This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you like writing in school? Many kids do not, because it can be very dry process. Help us break down the walls and improve our writing skills by making them more interactive and fun!

My students are inner city smarties.

Despite all the hardships in their little lives, they come to school with smiles on their faces. My students are from low-income homes, where many parents work two/three jobs, and the kids are home taking care of each other. Many do not have two parent homes. Most of my students are from immigrant families struggling to survive in our country. Despite it all, my students bring their little smiles to school everyday. Even when things seem to be falling apart for them at home, they come to school eager to learn, and have fun. My students need the nonfiction sequence writing, the writing activity pockets and learn to print to help them master the skills of writing.

My Project

Many of little ones have extremely poor writing skills due to the fact that English is a second language to them. I want to really improve the motivation in the class and have little ones that love to write and get excited about it. My students will be able to enhance their motor skills in writing, and build themselves up in the writing process and skills. Using the nonfiction sequencing writing tiles, my students will learn to read and write and how to write in order. This is great because I get to target two skills with one activity. With the writing activity pockets, my students will be able to grab a pocket for different levels and different activities and get to work by building stories. This builds confidence and independence.

As I help my little firsties build their skills, writing is always an area that really needs help.

Many of my students are not excited about it. This year and for years to come, I want to help them, by making it more interactive, more fun for them. This will not only build their skills but build their confidence as writers. At the end, they will love writing. Please help my little first graders. Thank you.
