My Students
I teach at a Title I elementary school that is over 80 years old. We lack many of the modern technologies of today's world. Over 95% of my students receive either free or reduced lunch.
My students put in a lot of effort to attend my school.
It is a medical magnet school so they ride a bus for over an hour to get to our school servicing students from all over the community including military families. We only have about 250 students so we are small and don't have the resources that a larger school might have. Most of my students are free or reduced lunch, come from all over the district and include military students.
My Project
My students come from homes where they are oftentimes not encouraged or believed in. I must provide experiences for my students that will change the way they think about themselves and show them they can achieve whatever they want with the right mindset.
With the support of these books, my students will have characters they can connect with that will inspire them.
I have watched first hand how a book can change the whole culture in my classroom. My students need to read about more about the growth mindset and believe in themselves so they can be successful.
I believe the funding of this grant can change lives.
