Growing Together

My students need a space where we can all get together and be a community. When our class grew, we outgrew our current meeting space. Additionally, I need flexible seating for my kiddos!

My Students

My school has become a pilot in our urban district. Due to overcrowding at the middle school population, we are adding 5th grade to our school. However that also means that each grade level will decrease from 5 to 4 classrooms. We all know what that means, more kiddos for me. We team teach so there will be atleast 10 special needs children and 12 English Language Learners in my class.

Many of our students come from low income homes.

School is their safe place. We provide food, clothing, and love. Every student in my class is an exceptional person who can accomplish anything they set their minds too. I love to watch how they grow throughout the year.

My Project

My students and I typically get down on the ground where they can feel comfortable while learning. I love to have my whole class together sharing our knowledge, experiences, successes and areas we need to improve upon. My students rise to expectations on a daily basis and I strongly encourage them to question each other, themself, and even me. When everyone is at the same level, that goal can be accomplished by even the most reluctant students. I love a comfortable enviroment where we can all grow together.

I also have the kids who need movement and the opportunity to have flexible seating.

This helps them develop trunk control which also helps develop better handwriting. Sometimes kids also like to sit in a different seat simply because it is fun! I believe that in order to grow we must also have fun. Your generosity will help my students continue to grow both academically and as a community. With social media and technology today, direct communication is a dying skill. I intend to make sure that ALL of my students have the opportunity to develop social skills while learning.
