This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My diverse readers are so enthusiastic about learning. They enjoy reading all types of books.
Many of my students are struggling readers.
They have difficulty staying on task because of their lack of reading skills. But mostly because of the lack of engaging books they require.
The majority of my students are from low-income families. Many of them may not have the resources needed to read every night. I want them to have as many resources as possible to help them grow as readers.
My Project
My students need new fun and engaging books to add to our leveled library. These books will motivate students to read during independent reading time in our classroom. Partner reading is an activity that fosters cooperation and listening skills. These books will help develop literacy partnerships.
I can also use them for guided reading to teach small groups of students that need extra support.
These decodable books will support my bilingual readers to learn vocabulary and new sight words.
They will be a great addition to our library this year.
