it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our biggest job in first grade is learning to read!
My twenty-four first grade students attend a public school in California that serves a low income, high need community of English Language Learners.
The school's mission is focused on closing the achievement gap and giving all students an equal opportunity to attend college and pursue their dreams. They are curious and caring, and work hard everyday to "make college a reality".
My Project
My students are reading up a storm this year! In fact, many have read all the books at their level in our classroom library. They need more books to capture their interest, like favorite characters and science topic, and to spur their reading growth.
I am positive these materials will have an impact on learning in my classroom.
Reading high quality, interesting books at their level will help my students apply the skills they are learning each day and allow them to increase their reading levels. These books will help make sure my young readers are on a path of reading success and love of learning!
