My Students
Are you an avid reader? Avid readers need a variety of books that are just right for them to read to help gain confidence while learning to read. Most of my families do not have access to books of this type.
My students are a great group of kids.
They come from low income and, often, broken homes. Many have another language spoken at home as well. My families don't have the resources or knowledge of how to help their students. The students get very excited to hear a variety of stories that most people would think are ones that everyone knows. My students have not had the opportunity to hear these stories however.
My Project
I am in desperate need of leveled reading books. These books are geared to meet the needs of beginning readers. The students will use these books to practice beginning reading skills and grow as readers. Unfortunately these early levels are difficult to find in the mainstream market and are therefore more difficult to accumulate a library of.
These leveled readers will provide my students with the confidence they need to grow in their reading.
Everyone should be given the chance to read books that interest them. My students need just the right books to accomplish this.
