This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." by Dr. Seuss. This quote sums up the goal I have for my students. I have 24 amazing first graders who live in a low-income, high poverty area where they face many challenges in their daily lives, but they love school!

My goal is to instill in each child a love of learning and the belief that they can do anything!

They come to school each day excited and ready to learn. My desire is to provide them a safe and loving environment where they can thrive.

My Project

A bookshelf is much needed to help organize and store new books I have for my students' independent take home reading books. The books will be organized by reading level so that my students can quickly access books they can read and take them home as part of our lending library.

The bookshelf will become part of the reading area in our classroom where students will be able to go during independent reading and buddy reading.

My students will then have the opportunity to take their books home to practice reading and build fluency.
