Growing Our Readers Workshop

My Students

This is my first year of teaching fourth grade to a wonderful and creative group of boys and girls at a Title I school. They are excited to learn and come to school each day. It is important to ensure that children enjoy learning. Throughout the learning experience of each student, it is important that they continue the motivation to grow in their learning. They will take their joy of learning into the next grade and beyond. Therefore, they need all the necessary materials that will make them successful, independent, and confident learners. With your help, this can continue.

My Project

This will make a difference in my students' learning because it is important for students to have an efficient classroom library. Having an efficient classroom library means being able to look for and find books, that specific students are interested in reading. It is imperative that my students have the ability to look through categorized books in the book bins so that they can understand book genres and different authors. This will also make it easier for them to put books back where they belong!

When students can effectively use their classroom library, they can grow in their independent reading and become better students overall!

The students having independent book boxes, will make it so that the students can pick out different types of books to put in their book box and take it to a special place around the room to read. That way, if they finish a book, they do not need to get up to find a new book at the classroom library, but can use another book that is in their book box!

The students also need better choices of books that are new and relevant to their interests. The sets of books will encourage students to continue the series and grow in their reading!
