Our school is a rural school located in rural central Missouri. We are a small school with a big heart, of which our students are the main focus. We provide a variety of opportunities for students to advance both in and out of the classroom. Known for our dual credit programs, many of our high school students graduate with multiple college hours jump-starting their college careers. Internships and work studies allow students to experience a variety of fields before receiving a high school diploma. Many of the students at our school have attended since Kindergarten and the class size is so small that they have literally been with the same people in their classes for years. They are looking to expand their world and I think books are a great way to do this. My students are craving new and fresh books in the library. Providing them with graphic novels is one way I can show them I am listening.
I have really enjoyed getting to know my elementary, 6th-grade students, and high school techs (through library classes), but I want to get to know ALL my students.
My Project
I keep asking the high school students what will bring them into the library and they keep telling me GRAPHIC NOVELS! I want to provide them with a Graphic Library they are willing to come check out again and again.
Help me get the books that will get the students in the library!
The books on this list are varied and will appeal to a large group of students!
Some of the books on the list are for pleasure reading... helping me make life long readers. Some of them will be used in the classrooms to got along with the traditional chapter books.
