This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school garden program has taken off and is continuing to grow this school year. Because of my gardeners' hard work, we have been able to give over 50 pounds of produce to their families and school members in the summer and fall growing seasons. Our students are fascinated by learning new skills and these skills will become even more important with the growing cost of food to help them provide for their families.

The garden equipment will help us expand our raised beds, prevent damage from wildlife, beautify our garden space for students and parents, and provide a way for us to start our own seeds for the spring through fall growing time.

Our garden program, MMS Grows, has had an overwhelming positive response from our teachers, administration, and parents. We would love to continue to provide an awesome experience for students to grow their passions, spend time collaborating with their peers, giving produce to those in need, and building work ethic.
