Growing Minds: A Greenhouse for Outdoor Learning

My Project

My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn when given the right opportunities. As a Title I school serving primarily Black and Brown students who often face barriers to accessing hands-on, experiential learning. Despite these challenges, they are passionate about science, problem-solving, and the world around them. I want to nurture that excitement by providing them with real-world learning experiences that spark curiosity and confidence.

A greenhouse will transform our outdoor space into a dynamic learning lab where students can explore plant science, sustainability, and nutrition firsthand.

They will engage in hands-on experiments, track plant growth, and understand the impact of environmental factors on crops. This resource will also support interdisciplinary learning by integrating math, literacy, and critical thinking skills. By caring for plants, students will develop responsibility and teamwork, while seeing science come to life in ways that feel relevant to their lives and communities.
