Growing Minds 2: A Pollinator Garden for Young Scientists

My Project

Our school serves a diverse population of students, the majority of whom come from low-income households. Despite financial challenges, our students are full of curiosity and creativity—they just need the right tools and experiences to thrive. Since our vegetable garden project got so much support, I would like to add a pollinator garden: a living, outdoor classroom where students can learn hands-on about ecosystems, biology, sustainability, and the importance of pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

With your support, we will transform a patch of schoolyard into a vibrant learning space filled with native flowers, herbs, and shrubs that attract and support local pollinators.

Students will help plan, plant, and care for the garden, turning science lessons into real-world action. They'll observe life cycles, collect data, and connect their classroom learning to nature—right outside their door.

This project will also help foster environmental stewardship, creativity, and teamwork. For many of our students, it will be their first experience planting something and watching it grow.
