Growing Kindergartners

My students need books about gardens and how things grow, wobble chairs, giant stepping stones, a garden tools play set, theme boxes about how things grow, and dramatic play resources such as fruit and vegetables.

My Students

My students are in Kindergarten and are 5-6 years old. They are young and excited to learn at school. They come in every day ready to learn something new. They learn best through hands-on experiences. I want to provide my students with the best possible learning experience that I can. Our Title I school is located in a small town. It is a wonderful school to be a part of. Students come in and are welcomed by school members who want to help them succeed.

My Project

My students always love learning about how things grow and actually planting vegetables and flowers. Every year, my students learn about plants and farms. During these units, my students learn about how things grow, healthy and non-healthy foods. My students want to have more big books that will help them understand how plants grow and about farm life. The books will help provide my students with different ways to eat healthy and grow healthy foods. The plants flip chart will provide my students with a great visual on how plants grow and the different parts of plants. My students also want more hands-on activities. The Growing Things and Farm Theme boxes will provide my students with hands-on activities that will help improve their learning about plants and healthy food choices.

My students will use the Create-Your-Own Crops and Fruit Farm in our dramatic play center.

It's amazing to see how my students use their imagination and apply what they are learning in class at this center. They will be able to use the pretend market resources in our dramatic play center. They will love having fruits and vegetables in this center to help them have a better understanding about healthy foods. They also want to have more center activities that allow for them to move around while they are learning. They will use the giant stepping stones to help them learn their numbers. The will also use the alphabet bowling set as a center. This is a great activity that will allow my students to be active and learn about letters. My students also want to have more wobble chairs that allow them to move around while learning. Every day, we spend at least 60-90 minutes at centers that allow my students to move around the classroom while learning.
