My Project

As an educator, my goal is to create a classroom environment where students not only develop strong academic skills but also learn the essential social-emotional skills needed to navigate life successfully. One of the most effective ways to foster these skills is through literature that engages, inspires, and teaches valuable lessons. To achieve this, I am working to build a robust collection of books for my kindergarten classroom, with a special focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and other age-appropriate reads that will support my students' growth in meaningful ways.

Books have the power to teach children empathy, resilience, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills—essential components of emotional intelligence.

Whether through relatable stories about perseverance, tales that promote kindness and inclusion, or narratives that help students understand and manage their emotions, SEL-focused literature provides young readers with tools they can carry with them throughout their lives. A well-stocked classroom library not only encourages a love for reading but also fosters important conversations about emotions, relationships, and character development.

To ensure my students have access to these impactful stories, I am seeking support in acquiring high-quality books for our classroom. Donations of these types of books that focus on SEL themes—or any engaging, age-appropriate literature—would make a tremendous difference in helping my students grow both academically and personally.
