Help me give my students materials for hands-on learning opportunities. These supplies will allow more students to be a part of dissections and a classroom garden.
By funding these supplies, students from a rural school will be provided with more hands-on learning opportunities. These students will have a greater background in STEM, critical thinking opportunities, and a chance to explore the world around them.
The soil, seeds, soil test kit, pots, and worm farm provided by DonorsChoose would present a rich learning opportunity for students.
The hands-on experience of growing plants, learning about soil production, and the interactions between organisms will help students to gain a practical understanding of plant science. The plants the students grow can be used in labs, student-led experiments, and even in their own homes. Students will also be able to see the vital role of soil organisms and plants in nutrient cycling. Through these materials, students will be able to apply their plant science knowledge and develop essential skills for cultivating a garden.
The inclusion of pig hearts, the dogfish, the heart model, and other lab materials will also elevate the students' learning experiences by providing hands-on learning opportunities. The materials needed for dissections and experiments will allow for real world applications and will increase student interest. Demonstrations will also help to increase student understanding and curiosity. Through these experiences, students are more likely to remember principles, be an active participant, and ask questions.
I am a first-year teacher in the process of building up general resources to help promote student success. Supplies like balloons, popsicle sticks, play-doh, and yarn will be great for student demonstrations and activities. These supplies will be used by many of my students as they create projects and models. Other general classroom supplies like posterboard, chalk markers, and access to a laminator will help to diversify classroom activities and help me to tailor to diverse learners' needs.
