Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Soil and compost are essential for creating healthy, thriving gardens, and they play a crucial role in helping students learn about gardening in several ways:

Hands-On Learning: Working directly with soil and compost gives students a tactile, hands-on experience, helping them understand the physical properties of soil (like texture, moisture, and pH) and how these affect plant growth.

Understanding Ecosystems: Organic compost introduces students to the concept of sustainable ecosystems. By learning how composting recycles organic matter into nutrient-rich soil, students will better understand the natural cycle of decomposition and nutrient cycling in nature.

Environmental Awareness: Using organic soil and compost teaches students about eco-friendly gardening practices and the importance of reducing waste.
