Help me give my students gardening tools that will allow me to connect them to the Hawaiian culture through project based learning!

My Project

COVID-19 has impacted students in countless ways. It has also impacted the needs of our students now that they have returned to in person learning. Students are requiring additional spaces that support their social-emotional needs while also remaining engaged in hands on learning. Our students are struggling with finding the relevance of school and how the skills they are learning can apply into their lives at home.

Through this project, my students will be given materials that will allow us to build a stronger classroom community through the love of gardening!

Students will learn about traditional Hawaiian customs when gardening to add cultural relevance. They will engage in growing projects that align with current science standards targeting traits and plant evolution. Most importantly, they will be given a space that they contributed in creating that will be used as a social emotional safe space.
