When most people go to work, they are greeted by a computer, a register, or a telephone. I get greeted by tiny, smiling faces that are eager to learn. These amazing students are the reason I gladly stay till five at night, come in on the weekends, and toss and turn at night thinking about their successes and areas of improvement.
There is growing scientific evidence that shows students environments greatly impact their ability to learn and their test scores.
My goal create a classroom environment and provide supplies that help students thrive to the best of their ability. My students are kind, giving, happy and dedicated to their education. Knowing that cheeseburgers are my favorite food, I often hear "Mrs. Crane, meet me in the cafeteria, cheeseburgers are on the menu today. You can share mine with me!" They have pride in who they are, how hard they work at school, and the bond we have made. At my school, more than half of our students are economically disadvantaged, and many come from foster programs and/or are English language learners. Donating to my class today will not only help my current students but also many more to come!
My Project
While our school does offer us a great curriculum is it simply not enough to ensure that students have access to enough books at their level. Students can quickly become bored and dislike reading if they are reading the same books over and over.
When donating to this project you will give my current class and many years of students access to engaging books at their appropriate level.
The most important part about the beginning stages of reading is making sure students are reading books at their sweet spot. If it is too hard or too easy they will quickly lose interest. These amazing collections of books will guarantee that students have engaging books they will enjoy reading!
