My Project
My students are learning to love books! We read stories every day and they love to go into the reading center during center time to look at the books and read to themselves and others. Books spark their imagination and help them build essential literacy and language skills. However, we currently have limited audio books with matching cds for our listening center.
These audio books would provide our students with opportunities to hear expressive reading and explore stories independently, even when a teacher isn’t available to read aloud.
These resources are especially helpful for fostering listening comprehension, vocabulary, and a love of storytelling. Many of these books in this project are stories that we have read or will read in large group setting. Giving the students a chance to be able to listen to them again during center time would be great.
Lots of these books will be familiar to students and I feel this will help increase the demand of the listening center by giving them more options then we currently have.
