Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We want to create a school community garden to give our students the chance to see how gardening works in real-time. Videos and worksheets can not compare to working with dirt, seeing the seeds sprout, and being able to harvest what we have grown!

Through this space, my students will be able to benefit from exposure to a natural, outdoor learning environment and gain an understanding of where their food comes from.

Students will be able to identify and grow different fruits, herbs, flowers, and vegetables and learn to make healthy life-long choices. Students will know what it takes to get their food from farm to table.

We want to make sure we have all the supplies we need so that our students have the best learning opportunities we can offer them, but as a public school our funds are limited and we can only do so much without the support of the community.

This project will benefit the 4th and 5th graders of our school.
