My students are a playful, creative and thoughtful group of 3-5-year-olds with a variety of learning abilities. Coming from diverse backgrounds, my class includes a mixture of both typically developing students and exceptional students.
Learning through play is imperative for young children, and keeping play exciting, interesting and fun is the best way to achieve this!
My Project
Growing a garden is a multidisciplinary activity. From the fine motor and math skills of counting and planting seeds to the science applications of how a plant grows, students can learn so much from a garden. We will also explore with art art as we decorate pots and label our plants. Sensory explorations will inevitably take place through the planting and playing in the dirt.
This lighted shelf will allow my students to grow plants indoors throughout the entire school year.
We will grow a variety of traditional garden plants: lettuce, spinach, carrots, and tomatoes. We will also experiment with avocado seeds, peach pits, mango pits, beans, peas and some flowers.
