My Students

I teach in a small town. Although we are a suburban borough, our demographics are similar to an urban school district. A large number of our students are from low-income backgrounds, and families do not have the means to purchase technology items that help support education in the 21st century. I have done my best to fund and support our STEAM efforts, but with the large budget cut our district is facing, we find ourselves in even greater need.

In order to level the playing field for ALL of the young children we serve I am committed to ensuring EVERY CHILD, regardless of ability, have access to STEAM Education and tools to keep them excited about and inspired for learning.

My Project

We would like to turn a spare classroom into a combined STEAM Lab/Garden Classroom for our children and teachers to have the creative makerspace needed to inspire our children & spark interest in these academic areas.

By having Lego Kits & flexible seating we can establish and provide opportunities for our 1-3 graders to engage in hands-on STEAM activities, children will have the chance to explore learning through discovery, as children naturally should.

With drastic state budget cuts, it is impossible to garner funding for this age group in our district, so I am reaching out in hopes of receiving help for our children.
