My Project
What I love most about my students is that they have a love of learning, a passion for knowledge a hunger to develop and grow academically. Receiving the Carolina’s Biological Fast Wisconsin Plant Growth and Development Kit will serve two purposes. One, my students will be able to understand the nature of the dependency among organisms and their environment. Two, due to inclement weather and serve storms in our area, students lost one week of school equaling one week of learning. Under the conditions of light and water, the brassicas seeds have a super-fast generation cycle of 35 to 40 days. Students will be able to regain lost learning time due to the weather, while gathering evidence and using scientific reasoning to support an explanation for how specialized plant structures affect the probability of successful reproduction.
The specific goal for studying about plant growth is to help students think up and share with their peers new ways to produce enough nutritious food for a growing world population.
A second goal is for my students to research and learn about sustainable cropping practices to produce healthful food while protecting the environment.
Finally, students will investigate new methods to fight plant diseases.
