My Students
Remember that itchy feeling when you just needed to leave our seat? In order to combat the wiggles, my students do lot of small group work and group activities, but the floor gets cold and painful after a while, even for young bodies.
My thirty third and fourth grade students attend school from 8am to 5pm in an urban charter school.
We are a year round school where the staff puts forth a tremendous amount of effort to encourage our students to reach their dreams. The majority (90%) of our students are from low-income homes. The beautiful children in my classroom come from a variety of social and familial circumstances, but they are all capable of achieving success
My Project
I am requesting, floor cushions, white boards, clip boards, and a variety of writing materials to help make our small group time more engaging and effective for all learners. Our small group time would be completely transformed with the addition of this relatively small but important materials- we would move from sore rear ends, fidgety students, and using text books as clip boards to comfort and effective working spaces. Small group time is an integral part of our day and an important way for me as a teacher to reach my most difficult and struggling learners. Help make a strong small group time a reality for us!
