This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard working and optimistic about the future. Our school strives to promote and cultivate a college-ready mindset in every student because only a quarter of of my students report having a family member attend college.

If you ask my students what motivates them to succeed, they would talk about their family.

Despite facing many challenges, my students come to school ready to learn and be their best in order to make themselves, their family, and their community proud. Every day I am humbled that I get to be their teacher because they recognize the power of education.

My Project

Desks can be so boring! But if students walk in to a classroom that utilizes desks as a platform to improve their 21st century skills, they get excited! These desks will allow students to work with a partner or in a large group.

Learning to work with others is skill that will benefit every student, and if 9th graders start developing these skills, they will feel confident about their communication and collaboration skills when they graduate from high school.

My goal is to keep every student engaged, and group work is a great way to include every learner in the classroom.
