Gross Motor Sensory Experiences

Help me give my students a balance beams, pod swing, wobble boards and yoga ball for gross motor sensory experiences to help them learn how to regulate their emotions.

My Project

Sometimes students don't need to sit still in order to regulate their emotions and get calm. Sometimes moving is what is needed! Gross motor sensory items such as balance boards and beams as well as weighted yoga balls and swings help students stay present and focused on a task until their mind and body is calm so they can get back to class and learn.

These items are good for a large variety of students of all ages.

These requested items are used for a classic case of needing to get your wiggles out. Sometimes kids are disregulated emotionally, but they aren't angry or sad. They feel their emotions overflowing and they need a way to let them out. You might ask why this can't happen on the playground- sometimes the playground with all of the social expectations is very overstimulating and kids aren't focused on what their bodies need to get calm. Using these items in the wellness center, in a calm environment they can listen and feel their way to a calm body and mind.
