Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title I school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to read, communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!

My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.

At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best at everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.

My Project

My young readers love to sing and boogie with Pete the Cat and his animal friends in this popular book series. These books will hook their attention with the stories and keep them amused and reading. They are written in simple rhyme and have colorful illustrations that draw my reader's attention.

Pete the Cat books will help encourage positive self-esteem in my little ones.

The books will be used with my students that are learning from home and face to face. During every lesson, I read them a book and ask comprehension questions. They get very excited when I tell them that their "friend" Pete the Cat is back with a new adventure! So much learning takes place with these books. I'd love it if I could get these books into their hands with your support.
