Help me give my students mortar and pestles for grinding solids while studying dissolving rates and solubility concentrations. The potassium iodide for reactions such as elephant toothpaste and chemical identification.

My Project
The use of a mortar and pestle is a necessity in several of our chemistry labs in both my chemistry and physical science classes. The mortar pestle helps my students grind solids down for a variety of labs. Grounding chemicals help dissolve to the completeness and the rates of dissolving. The potassium iodide will be used in the laboratory scene as well. The potassium iodide is used in the identification of unknown substances in a process similar to what is done in a forensics lab. The use of both of these two items is not only specific to some lab activities but helps to develop real-world lab techniques.
By donating to our project, you will not only help improve student hands-on participation in our STEM activities, in the big picture will help increase the skill set of working in a chemistry experimental environment currently in school and in their future careers.
Students will be able to manipulate equipment in the lab and understand how and when to use it. Understanding the use of chemicals in the general sense along with more specific testing of other chemicals is a must for developing our scientist of tomorrow.
