This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At one point or another, some students will unfortunately experience grief in their lives. Grief and loss can be overwhelming for adults, but can be even more confusing and harder to understand for young children. Whatever the unexpected and challenging circumstance may be, it can affect student's behavior and their ability to perform in school.

Grief can have a profound effect on school performance with students finding difficulty concentrating, increased anxiety, and experience mood swings.

The grief kits will include activities and items that can be taken home or used in school. The anxiety stickers, squishy toys, art supplies, and pencil grips will be used for stress relief and can serve as a distraction. The beads and strings will be used to make memory bracelets to honor student's loved ones who passed away.

Grief kits will provide some comfort for students and will be helpful in allowing students to process their loss and develop effective coping skills while helping families learn to support one another in grief.
