This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year we have had an uprise in students who are having to deal with loss. We have had students experience losing a father, a brother, grandparents and pets during the first half of the school year alone and we continually have a population of students processing loss from previous years.
Grief is really hard for adults; its even harder for kids.
Grief takes time; lots of time.
The books in this project will allow my kids to understand the grief process and the craft items will help them share their feelings through art and writing. The students will be able to make memory boxes, garden stones, paint grief rocks and more.
Our students are sweet, strong and resilient; but they also are just kids who need caring adults to help get them through tough times.
