Green Spaces for Learning: Bringing Nature to Our Schoolyard

Nature has a unique way of teaching us—through its beauty, its cycles, and its incredible diversity.

As our world becomes increasingly digital, we want to reconnect our students with the natural environment by transforming our school courtyard into an outdoor learning haven.

Our project aims to create a green space filled with vibrant flowers to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, birdhouses that attach to our windows for up-close birdwatching, and seeds to grow a thriving garden. We also hope to inspire learning and curiosity with books about birds, pollinators, and the ecosystems they create. To facilitate lessons in our outdoor classroom, we are requesting a whiteboard for teaching and four chairs to accommodate students with special seating needs, as we already have tree stumps for seating.

This project is especially meaningful to us because our idea to add nature to the courtyard won the school-wide vote! We believe this space will not only provide hands-on learning opportunities but also foster a sense of calm and connection to the environment.
