This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that I serve are inquisitive, interested, and eager for information. Being in an underserved community, they are not afforded the opportunities that most students. For example, resources such as technology at home and in the classroom.
Our school community is small and close knit.
We are not only their educators but also their counselors, their resource officer, their confidante to name but a few. Outside of our school community, there is poverty, single parent or grandparent households, and crime. Our school serves more than for education but for life skills to allow them to compete in a global market in the twenty-first century but also skills to help them be who they can be.
My Project
During and after reading various novels, students will work on their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills by creating projects through the use of green screen technology. Through the integration of technology with literacy, we can work on all Common Core Standards at once.
This will be and out of box way to demonstrate learning and apply project based learning ideas to my reading and journalism classes.
Students will have to generate ideas based on themes and character analysis in the books and then portray these ideas through the green screen technology to show what they know. The iPad with be the interface that they use along with the mic and boomboxes for recordings.
