it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school serves an incredible group of hardworking, resilient students who are eager to learn despite facing many challenges. Most of our students come from economically disadvantaged households, and many are English Language Learners. In our classroom, we work hard to create a space that feels calm, structured, and supportive—a place where students feel safe, seen, and ready to grow both academically and personally.
We’re in need of a bamboo mail center to help keep our classroom organized and running smoothly--with 27 individual slots and sturdy trays, each student would have their own space to store assignments, journals, and important materials.
Right now, papers often end up lost in backpacks or crumpled at the bottom of desks, which leads to stress and confusion. Having a central, reliable system would help us stay more focused on learning instead of trying to track things down. This organizer would also help build student responsibility and ownership over their work.
What makes this project even more special is that the mail center is made from sustainable bamboo, which connects perfectly to our lessons about climate, conservation, and making thoughtful choices. As we learn about taking care of the Earth, I want my students to see those values reflected in our classroom materials—not just in books or lessons. By using long-lasting, eco-friendly tools like this organizer, we can show students that even simple choices, like what we use to stay organized, can have a positive impact on the planet.
