Green Energy in Action: Exploring Hydroelectric & Wind Power

This year, my students will embark on a STEM project focused on renewable energy, specifically wind and hydroelectric power. Starting in February through March, they will conduct experiments to understand how these sustainable energy sources work and how they can be harnessed efficiently. Through this investigation, they will develop essential skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry, preparing them for future challenges in the ever-evolving world of science and technology.
However, being in a remote location with a limited school budget presents challenges in acquiring the necessary materials for this project.
That’s why I am reaching out to generous supporters. The specific resources I’m requesting—such as model wind turbines, water turbines, electrical components, and measuring tools will allow my students to build, test, and analyze small-scale renewable energy systems. These hands-on materials will make science come alive in our classroom, helping students connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications.
My goal for this project is to empower my students to see themselves as young scientists and engineers who can find solutions to real-life energy problems. I want them to understand the importance of renewable energy in building a sustainable future and to spark their curiosity about STEM careers. This project will not only enhance their scientific knowledge but also inspire them to think innovatively and take action in making the world a better place.
