Great, Gripping Graphic Novels

My students need nine new graphic novels, such as Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, to hook boy readers.

My Students

Getting a teenage boy to read can be like trying to dance with a lion, a real challenge. But it doesn't have to be that way! In my classroom, I've found that boys tend to be drawn to graphic novels. The problem is I have very few of them. Providing my students with more will get these boys reading!

My students live in a low income area.

Currently, 82% of them receive a free or reduced price lunch. They know what it is like to go without the things they want and sometimes even the things they need. Books, however, are one thing I don't want them to go without.

My Project

Many of my students struggle with vocabulary and reading comprehension, especially the boys. Providing these children with graphic novels will not only help them with their reading comprehension, it will also give them a new, enjoyable hobby that lets them escape from the problems of their daily lives.

Donating to this project will help teenage boys with their vocabularies and reading comprehension.

Hopefully, it will help bridge the gap between them and the girls. My thirteen-year-old students are at the age where reading skills are so important, and the boys should not be overlooked.
