This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are thoughtful, inquisitive, and very creative. They are critical thinkers.

My students are part of the pilot class at a public art magnet elementary school.

They have embraced the opportunity to analyze and create art as part of many units of study, integrated across all core subjects.

My Project

These texts will contribute to a diverse, inspiring classroom library that will support students' literacy. I will read some of these texts aloud to my students in person and during online instruction. All of these texts will be displayed in my classroom library when we return to in-person learning. Students will be able to select books from the library to read. In this selection are many books on art and artists. I teach at a visual arts magnet. These texts will help me teach art-integrated literature and social studies lessons.
