My students need books! I know it is a common theme in elementary classrooms. These titles were specifically selected to match our level of readers and their interests, as well as upcoming projects.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our second grade class is filled with lively learners who love to explore the world around them. Our school is dedicated to teaching everyone utilizing project based learning techniques.

We serve a large Mexican American population as well as a diverse group of families in the North County San Diego area.

Even by second grade many students are reading below level, which is why most of the resources I am asking for are books. I want to each student to develop a passion for reading, and need lots of books to match to my readers with unique areas of interest and a range of reading abilities. In addition, because we use a project based learning approach, we attempt to build an engaging classroom rich with materials and access to real tools and resources.

My Project

These books were specifically selected to match our readers' levels, interests and future project work. It is vital to keep our students engaged in their learning and new book titles such as Matilda and James and the Giant Peach, help tremendously. Also, many of these science books will help us with our research for future project work.

Please help them continue to develop their reading skills as well as their interests in the world around them.

My students love to read and learn about new things in the world. These books will be used for independent reading, class read alouds as well as research during science and project work.
