Great Books For Growing Readers and Leaders

My students need new books to add to our classroom library. We are voracious readers and trade books are rather expensive. By adding popular titles to our classroom library, we can save money.

My Students

The school, started 16 years ago, has been a shining star in the School District of Philadelphia. It is unique in that it is a traditional, neighborhood public school, but has a private partnership with the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers.

I teach a diverse group of learners in the University City section of Philadelphia; my students come from racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse families.

The school is a community of learners whose mission is to maximize the academic and personal competence of all its students to become successful life-long learners and productive citizens in a diverse and highly technological society.

My Project

My students are voracious readers; they love to read and review books. When this happens, more and more classmates are inspired to read different series. Many of them do not like to stop after Book 1; then there is a buzz and excitement around Book 2 and 3. Then comes Book 4. As their teacher, I like to spoil them and encourage their love of books, but it becomes quite expensive. With your help, we will be able to add some newer books to our library. The set of 57 Bus books will complement three other copies that we have in our room.
