Our school is located in an urban setting and is very diverse. From ethnicity to family to economic diversity, we celebrate everyone! Our school is an inclusive school, which means every class has students with special needs. We teach a peaceful approach to learning together. I teach lovely little learners.
The first graders I teach are so full of love.
Working at our school for close to two decades has been a gift. Our school community is full of love and support.
My Project
You can never have too many books in your classroom, especially when they're great books! Our first graders love to read and I want to give them what they want. I want to build our class library by adding many titles from great authors or series. We want Biscuit books about a puppy and his many adventures. I also want to provide George and Martha book series, about two friends and their experiences together. My new favorite series is the Houndsley and Catina books, such funny stories about two friends. Ollie and Gossie are another favorite for kids. We also love Arnold Lobel's Frog and Toad series. There are a few classics that I have owned for close to 20 years; the books are tattered and torn, so I though a new copies might be nice - books like Tikki Tikki Tembo and Caps for Sale.
There are close to 40 books in this project.
Most of the books are hardcover, which last longer and serve more students. The students will be able to read these books in our amazing library. I will be able to read the stories aloud to the students. We often write about books we read and relate stories from our lives.
