My Students
I will have just under 100 students next year...which means I need A LOT of books! All of my students are expected to read everyday and having a classroom library that can offer new and exciting books for every student will help instill a love of reading for my middle schoolers!
My students are dynamic, insightful and mature beyond their years.
They are 7th graders from Massachusetts. They make me laugh everyday and can become lost in a book they can connect to. My students come from all walks of life and therefore need variety of different books to spark their interest.
My Project
Many of my students can be resistant to reading so it is my goal to promote an appreciation of literature by providing them with an up to date classroom library with classic books for teens as well as popular new books found on the shelves of Barnes and Noble.
With a good book in their hand, my classroom can become so quiet you can hear a pencil drop - a rare experience in a full middle school classroom!
My students need independent reading books to continue to improve their literacy skills and develop an appreciation for literature.
Our school library does not have the resources to provide all of my students with a variety of books that are right for them. I am hoping I can provide the right kind of library inside my own classroom!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
