Graphing Success: Bringing Algebra to Life With Magnetic Coordinate Boards!
Help me give my students large dry erase magnetic coordinate plane boards, markers, and magnets to help Algebra 1 students actively engage with graphing, collaborate in problem-solving, and build confidence through hands-on learning.

My Project
My students are inquisitive, energetic, and full of potential. They come to class ready to tackle challenges, even when math feels overwhelming. As a Special Education teacher, I strive to make abstract concepts concrete, engaging, and accessible for all learners. Graphing is hard for many students—that’s why I’m requesting large dry erase magnetic coordinate plane boards and dry erase markers for our classroom.
These tools will transform the way students experience graphing.
Instead of working only in small notebooks or passively watching me graph on the board, students will have the opportunity to collaborate, stand up, and engage with graphing hands-on. Magnetic boards allow us to use manipulatives like coordinate pieces or labels to model graphs and explore transformations. The dry erase surface encourages trial and error, which is a critical part of mathematical thinking.
Here’s how your support will make a difference:
-Boost student engagement: Interactive boards make graphing a dynamic, tactile experience that gets students out of their seats and thinking critically.
-Support collaborative learning: Students can work in pairs or small groups to plot points, identify slopes, and visualize equations together.
-Encourage mathematical conversation: These boards naturally spark dialogue—students explain, debate, and justify their thinking to one another.
-Reduce math anxiety: The ability to erase and try again lowers the stakes, making students more willing to take risks and learn from mistakes.
Algebra is foundational. Whether students go on to careers in STEM or not, developing problem-solving skills, precision, and perseverance starts here. With your help, our classroom can become a space where students see math in action and feel successful doing it.
Thank you for helping us graph a brighter future—one coordinate point at a time.
