Help me give my students graphing calculators so that they can discover math in the world and in themselves!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If you were to take a peek into my classroom, you would see young people representing countries including Bangladesh, China, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, and the United States. They speak a myriad of languages and work hard every day in order to be academically successful, go to college, and make their families proud as our nation's future engineers, teachers, doctors, researchers, and scientists.
Unfortunately, more than 80% of my students come from families with incomes that qualify them for federal assistance.
Many live in one-bedroom apartments with extended families. Others work all weekend to help their parents pay the rent. Some are in foster care while others live as independent "adults" even though they are not old enough to drive. Like many students across the United States, they often struggle with mathematics but, unlike others, they often do not have the supports at home necessary to overcome the academic hurdles they face.
My Project
We utilize the CPM (College Preparatory Mathematics) curriculum, an interactive, hands-on, and problem-solving based program that emphasizes deep conceptual understanding over rote memorization. We investigate complicated functions, create intricate graphs and diagrams, write and solve equations, and write deep and thorough analysis of problems, all of which is applied to real-life scenarios like comparing investment accounts or determining the impact of a contagious disease that spreads at an exponential rate.
Our curriculum is dependent upon the availability and use of sophisticated graphing calculators that can do computations easily and quickly and create diagrams and graphs that help the scenarios come alive visually, leaving time and energy for the truly important work of critical analysis, thoughtful evaluation, effective modeling, and creative problem-solving.
My students need graphing calculators (which cost approximately $130 each) in order to solve advanced mathematics problems and complete their coursework.
Innovation. Access. Academic success. College acceptance. Career preparation. Your donation will help my students achieve these things and more. These graphing calculators and the access to the dreams that they represent to my students are priceless.
