Graphic Novels to Buzz About

Help me give my students graphic novels that they are eager to read. My students relate so easily to these books. They love sharing what happens in the books with their friends.

My Students

My goal is to instill a love of reading in my students. I want books to come alive and captivate my students so they read and read and read. When my students request a book that is not in my classroom library, I seek to purchase it for them.

My students absolutely love graphic novels and are captivated by the real life storylines, which are relatable.

These books allow my students to make natural connections and to make inferences about characters, their feelings, and their motivations.

My Project

My students have about 30 minutes of independent reading time each day. This time is reserved for students to read books they have chosen and are eager to read. One area of my classroom has some graphic novels, but I need more titles to get into the hands of my students. My students personally requested many of the titles I included.

During reading time, my students can't wait to dive into graphic novels.

They love sharing the plots with their peers. I often have students asking if one of the books has been returned so they can begin reading it. I also have students say, "When I finish this book, _____________ wants it." They are well-loved, well-read, re-read, and shared. It makes my heart happy to see my students fall in love with reading.
