My Students
The students at my school love hands-on, tactile learning. They enjoy building and solving problems with their hands. I try to give my students a diverse experience with the visual arts.
My school opened in the late 1990s and "Learning Through The Arts" was one of the founding principles.
Students build sets for their 5th grade musical. We invite local artists to come and share their artwork and work with students. The art room also uses art as a way to explore science, social studies, and literacy from a different lens.
My Project
My students love to make art. Often a few will complete their work before the rest of the class is finished, and I need them to be able to work independently on something, while I help other students finish their projects.
Students in my class love to read comics and graphic novels, but the current shelf I use for the comics makes it difficult for students to easily browse for a book that sparks their interest.
The shelf and the book tubs will make it easier for them to find the book that interests them. By helping us purchase the six graphic novels, you will help students enjoy art class even after their painting is sitting on the drying rack. Students who enjoy art classes are more likely to make art part of their lives many years after they have left my classroom.
