This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Who says picture books are just for little kids? Graphic novels are an outstanding way for high schoolers to engage in reading. I currently only have six graphic novels in my class library and they have been very well loved as is obvious from the worn out covers.
Some of my students are only on year two in the United States and getting them to discuss the stories has been a fantastic way to have organic conversations.
High interest, lower reading level books allow my English learners to work on vocabulary and still have something to read that is actually written for them and for those looking for more of a challenge (or thinking a book with pictures is easy) there graphic novels are a real winner.
